The 15th Annual New York State Cyber Security Conference (NYSCSC ’12) and 7th Annual Symposium on Information Assurance (ASIA ’12), which opened on June 5th was a huge success, with nearly 900 registrants from the public and private sectors. This two day event at the Empire State Plaza in Albany NY was co-hosted by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Cyber Security (OCS), the University at Albany’s School of Business and College of Computing and Information, and The NYS Forum, Inc. The theme of this year’s Conference was “The Future of Cyber Security” and the first day opened with a keynote by Melissa Hathaway, President of Hathaway Global Strategies, LLC and former White House Acting Senior Director for Cyberspace in the National Security Council. Billy Rios, Team Lead at Google, provided the ASIA 2012 keynote on June 6th. The Conference also offered 36 training sessions designed for a broad audience including law enforcement, business managers, cyber security professionals, CIOs, technical staff and executives. Session topics covered cloud security, identity and credit card theft, mobile device security, risk management among others.
