2008 Emergency Response Guidebook
The U. S. Department of Transportation will be sending the 2008 Emergency Response Guidebooks to the Office of Fire Prevention and Control sometime in the next few months. OFPC will distribute them to County Fire Coordinators, once they arrive. Our ability to supply books is totally dependent on the number of books DOT sends to us. DOT will also release a digital version of the ERG book later this year.
The number of books we plan on is determined by the number of vehicles listed for each county on the New York State Fire Resource Inventory (FRIS). We strongly suggest that each fire department and county review the numbers for your department or county as listed in the FRIS. If the Fire Resource Inventory is incorrect, please update the information. Since fire chiefs' vehicles are not included in the inventory we have included an estimate in our request to DOT.
We hope to be able to provide additional books to each county for training, but that will depend on how many books DOT is able to supply. Since the new book will have few changes from the old, counties may wish to collect the 2004 edition to use for training in the event there are not enough 2008 Emergency Response Guidebooks for that purpose.
If you have any questions concerning the Fire Resource Inventory System (FRIS) please contact Barbara Foley, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Deputy Chief Bill Lamb, email@example.com.
