Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations
Upcoming changes to the Firefighter-1 and Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) courses are described in the video presentation.
The New York State OFPC Firefighter-1 certification will be delivered in two courses. All students will begin with the Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations and then progress into the SCBA/ Interior Firefighting Operations course if they are seeking to be trained as an Interior Structural Firefighter who will wear a self- contained breathing apparatus.

Course Scheduling of the 9/2016 Edition Courses and Bridging from Legacy Courses (Previous Offerings of Equivalent Courses)
The delivery of the two courses shall only follow the sequence in which the units are arranged on the schedules. The SCBA/ Interior Firefighting Operations course can be run immediately following completion of the Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations course or as a stand-alone course. The Training Administrative District Fire Protection Specialist shall be contacted if the need to vary from the schedule arises. The schedule is designed to afford the students ample time to read the textbook and prepare for each unit.
Delivery of the 09/2016 edition of the Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) and the SCBA/ Interior Firefighting Operations courses is restricted to one of the following scheduling options:
Option 1 - Two Week Days. Samples:
Option 2 - Two Week Days, Occasional Weekend. Samples:
(Only the Sat. units shown on these schedules shall be utilized because of their association with the previous week night units. No additional Saturday units may be scheduled)
