Preparedness Kit
Making a preparedness kit will help make sure you’re ready to go in case of an emergency or disaster. Your kit should include:
- Water
- Food
- A jacket
- First aid items
- Toothbrush
- Any medicine you take
- Flashlight and new batteries
- Items that are special to you!
And if you have pets, don’t forget to pack for them, too!
Be Prepared in Case of Fire
- Think ahead! Make sure your smoke detectors work and you have a fire extinguisher in your home – ask an adult to help you.
- Plan an evacuation route and a meeting place outside so you and your family can be sure to leave safely if needed.
- If you see a fire in your home, let an adult know immediately.
9-1-1
- If you need help during an emergency, call 911.
- Tell the operator your name and where you are.
- Listen carefully and do what the operator tells you. They are there to help!
Be Safe Online!
- Use strong passwords.
- Never give out your personal information to anyone – this includes things like your address and phone number.
- If something or someone online makes you feel uncomfortable, let an adult know.
