Individual Assistance

Helping individuals on the road to recovery
Overview

The Individual Assistance Section (IA) is responsible for identifying, coordinating and/or implementing programs designed to address the needs of individuals and families affected by a disaster or event.

Key activities of the section are providing technical assistance and serving as the liaison between counties and the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency services during response operations.

The section also provides support and guidance to local community recovery organizations, coordinates with state and federal partners, creates and interprets individual assistance program guidance, and provides support toward the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) goal of whole community preparedness, response and recovery.
